Inteview With Richest Black Woman, Folorunsho Alakija.

Today Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija is the Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil and Executive Vice Chairman of Dayspring Property Development Company. In addition, she is the Founder, Rose of Sharon Foundation, an NGO that caters for widows and orphans across the country.

At any empowerment program she organizes for the less privileged, she does it with modesty and humility as she danced and ate with them. She is down to earth and has deep passion for God’s work.

Below is how she tells her story and the secrets:

You have authored Growing with the hands that gives the rose, University of Marriage and now The cry of widows and orphans. How did you make out time for these with your busy schedule? It’s the grace of God. It’s not just me. Many years ago, God told me that I will author books and it’s not that I didn’t believe it, I did, but I just didn’t know how or when it would happen. Now, the rest is history. So I give Him the praise. It has been through His grace. When He calls you to do something, He gives you grace to achieve it.

With your most recent book, what do you intend to achieve?
I basically want the world to be aware of the plight and challenges of widows and orphans. The world should rise up and show concern by doing something about their situation. Enough of lip service, it’s about time that we took the bull by the horns and began to do something. These are human beings who are supposed to be our mothers and sisters. Let’s be our brothers keepers. Let’s do something about their situation. It’s really about advocacy. We want to use the book to knock on doors, to wake people up from their slumber, to make them realize that there are some human beings in our world that are going through traumatic experience.

Your Rose of Sharon Foundation recently marked its fifth anniversary. Tell us your motivation for the foundation and how it has fared? Our focus is the alleviation of the suffering of widows and orphans, just as the scripture says. We do so through the design and execution of programs that give financial independence and educational opportunities to widows, their children and orphans. A journey that started with three widows on 23rd May, 2008, has blossomed into a network of almost a thousand widows today. Since inception, the foundation has empowered 970 widows, 11 of whom are in the university; awarded scholarships to 1, 366 widows’ children and 72 orphans. The loans given to widows are interest free and the scholarships have no conditions attached. It has also provided accommodation for business purposes for 82 widows. Moreover, we have provided some free healthcare check-ups and free legal services to our widows with the support of other agencies.

What have been your challenges in your efforts to better the lot of widows?
Funding has always been a challenge. We’ve never had enough funds to be able to attend to the needs of all those who require assistance because their number is alarming. It’s when you get involved in it that you realize the number of widows in the country. Already, in Lagos State, we are overwhelmed . They seem to know one another and where to find each other. They are each other’s friends. As a result of the empowerment that we provide, they go back and advertise Rose of Sharon Foundation to their friends. We always find that we are empowering more. We will need to hire more hands for counseling and verification.

What’s your typical day like?
I thank God for the staff God has given me, who give me maximum support. I give the instructions, they do a lot of groundwork and I do the supervision. They support me in every way. The foundation members and the trustees are working and they are supportive. I’m not working as a loner. God is kind; He is bringing the right people at the right time.

Aside your business, you also run The Rose of Sharon Ministry, coupled with the widows and orphans foundation and you are also one of the front liners in your local church . How do you cope with all these assignments?I have told you it’s by God’s grace. There is nothing you cannot achieve with God and with God there is nothing you won’t achieve. So, it’s a matter of holding to that pillar, praying, letting Him know that you cannot do any of these without Him. That is when He steps in and makes things easier for you.

Your spiritual life is so intriguing; coming from a Muslim background, you preach the gospel even more than those nurtured in Christian homes. How did you become a preacher?I’m not competing with anyone. I don’t know I’m even there yet. I just believe that I will continue to answer Him and do His bidding, His will. I set my time to please Him. I want to make heaven and I want my family and my friends to make heaven.

What’s your advice to women who are determined to improve themselves?
As you start, ask God to help you stick to your plan and He will because when you are spiritually at peace, you will, have peace of mind, which will help you attain and maintain a physical and emotional balance. It’s essential to draw up a “things to do” list on a daily basis and set priorities in executing them, making sure that any unfinished task get posted to the next day’s list. Remove what is bad for you. As you do, consider what would give you more time for yourself, your health, rest and recreation, and more time for and with your family. Learning to say “no” as it’s also a practical way to re-organize your life. We do not have to keep saying “yes” to every request just because we want to be nice.

Can you tell us how you met your husband?
I returned from England in December 1972 and within 2 weeks of my arrival in Nigeria, I met Mr. Modupe Alakija, a dashing young lawyer, at a party in Surulere. Though I was in the company of my elder brother, he insisted on driving me home and from that point on, we dated regularly for three and half years and we got married on November12th 1976. During our courtship, we partied, dined, visited friends, combed streets, markets and generally had a swell time in each other’s company. We went out frequently for lunch and dinner visiting suya and decent mama put joints. I also have fond memories of many times we drove to Badagry and Epe just to buy fresh fish.

You dress beautifully, what inspired your style?
I derive a lot of pleasure from dressing beautifully and appropriately for every occasion. My embroidered headties are my signature accessory and have become synonymous with me. Nobody looking for me has any difficulty in fishing me out in a crowdwhen I am in my native attire. I receive even more compliments for my head ties abroad. My long skirts and blouses, day suits, evening wears and casuals must always be impeccably fitted, as I would never wear anything less. My colours must be bright as the African weather. I love to look beautiful and have beautiful people and things around me

Top Nigerian Celebrities Yet To Marry.

The Nigerian entertainment industry is waxing stronger everyday with notable faces making waves. But many of these personalities are yet to say ‘I Do’. Is it because of the current issues of divorce bedeviling the industry, that some are finding it difficult to get married? Here are the notable faces who are yet to say ‘Yes, I do’ and even when they do, one might not even know since it can be done secretly.

Money is not the problem, but the problem is who to marry...

As a celebrity, you are faced with challenges of finding the right one to hook you up because of the temptation one faces everyday. But for these celebrities, they are just one of those things in the industry and don’t care if one speaks ill about them or not because that’s what makes them.

Though, some like Omawumi who was reported to have molested a photo journalist recently, the truth is what prompted that? Because in a recent interview, the sonorous musician stated that people are nosing too much on her personal life and she detests it. So, who and what are they in relationship with?

Why are they not married even as they are getting older? Though some have children others are yet to ponder for one or so it seems. Here are six out of the numerous celebrities that have never said “I Do” and might take longer to do so.

D’banj
Since the Kokomaster, D’banj, made a public confession that he’s still single and looking for a good woman to make his wife, Olufamous.com reliably gathered that actress Genevieve Nnaji has been making frantic efforts to get back into the arms of the super star.

According to an insider in D’banj’s camp, Genevieve and D’banj never really had a quarrel but that she was complaining too much because of the many ladies around him. D’banj, he said, got tired of her drama and simply ignored her. Now she wants to come back by all means...Genny just clocked 34 and it’s obvious she can’t just settle with any guy from the street corner; her man has to be someone with some level of ‘class’. It was gathered that she made contacts with D’banj at least three times in the last days of April but D’banj is still having some reservations.

One of his concerns, the source told Olufamous.com, is that Genny is too nosy and always wants to know everything going on. D’banj is the cool type who doesn’t like talking too much. So, will the Kokomaster still settle down with Genny or will he still continue to dance the “Koko” while waiting for the right woman?

Rita Dominic
This member of the Royal Waturuocha family of Aborh Mbaise local government area of Imo State just marked her 38th birthday. She is the youngest of four siblings. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts (1999) and starred in over 100 Nollywood productions. She won the City People Awards in 2004 as the Most Outstanding Actress. And had been rumoured to have dated Jim Iyke and some few notable faces. She has achieved everything that a woman should achieve but has not been hooked-up by anyone yet. Maybe, she doesn’t want to be seen as one of those break-ups in the industry or she feels she could take care of herself. But as an African woman, the right thing to do is to get hooked-up by a man. But how soon?

Genevieve Nnaji
In a recent picture, Genevieve Nnaji steps out with her 15 year old daughter, Chimebuka at a private event in a very rare scenario. Reports say Chimebuka lived with her parents for years, but ‘has a solid relationship’ with her mother. No one Knows who her father is, and she will not say, in spite of lingering speculations and interests. Nnaji is from Imo State, but grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. She is the fourth of eight children and was brought up in a middle class environment. While at the university, Genevieve began auditioning for acting jobs amongst the many Nollywood projects. She has been a single mother even when she was rumoured to be dating D’banj. But on the contrary, she is still waxing stronger and making ‘big cash’ on endorsement and movies. Would she ever get married as a single mother? Time will tell!

Waje
When the news broke that Waje was dating MI, she was not quick to rebuff it as she said in an interview with Entertainment Express “There is nothing to say about it really. We first met when I was in Enugu and he came for a show. When we met in Lagos, we hooked up and we have been doing stuffs together musically”. The word stuff might also mean something else aside the music business. “He is somebody who is very passionate about his music and I like him for that.

“I think it’s just what you media guys started. We are just friends, and maybe, you guys wanted a Nigerian version of Jay Z and Beyonce, so they just hooked us up by themselves.

“Even if we are dating, is it something I would tell the world?” She asked. So, if MI is dating a single mother like Waje and both profess love for each other, why not do the right thing and get married? Well, we hope to see the end.

Omawumi
Though her fans love her voice and are crazy about her, she’s a single mother and some could not hide their curiosity over the father of her baby.

In an interview with Thisday Entertainment contributor, SeunApara, she said that her child’s paternity is not hidden and would do everything to protect her family.

“I never hid my child’s paternity but I felt that since I’m not married, I don’t need to come out and say this is the father of my child. It is always ideal for someone who wants to marry you to be the one to identify himself. Another thing is that he might not want to identify himself because he is not an artiste. He might not want that part of my life. He might just love me and my child. So I like to respect people’s privacy.

“My family and my close friends know who the father of my child is because we’re in a relationship. We have a very healthy relationship and our families are intertwined. I don’t think I need to start telling people all this.

“I feel so bad about the stories people are writing about my child’s paternity because normally, controversies don’t get to me and my daughter doesn’t have to be part of this. So, when people start putting that kind of stuff in prints and my daughter stumbles on it when she is old enough to read, it will hurt her.

Jim Iyke
This young energetic movie star, musician and business man sees nothing wrong with a Nigerian woman kissing and loving up other men in a movie. He is also a man full of controversy with numerous ladies lining up as if going for a pageant. There was a time it was rumoured that the actor is getting married to his Jamaican Fiancee, Keturah Hamilton, and until now, nothing had been heard.

He and Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari are now rumoured to be dating and some fans have been asking why don’t they get married? Will he get married soon or continue his ‘bad boy’ role as he said “no vacancy.”

I Dated My Wife For 8 Years - Julius Agwu

Top stand-up comedian Julius Agwu opened up on how he met his wife, Ibiere proposed and married her. According to him, they dated for eight years, because his wife’s parents insisted that she must complete her education. Julius waited all these years till she finished her Masters program. In his interview with Vanguard Newspaper, he said:

“I met my wife at a wedding in Port-Harcourt in 2000. She was part of the bridal train. My mind was blown away when I sighted her. Thereafter, we became friends. Somehow, we lost contact with each other and later, met again in 2002. The rest is history. We got married in 2008.

“We dated for eight years. This is because her parents insisted that she must complete her education. After her Youth Service, they insisted she had to enroll for her master’s degree program. And I kept waiting for her.

“When you court your spouse, that’s when you understand yourselves better. You find out what she likes and what she doesn’t; her shortcomings as well as yours and find a way to blend with her. Some marriages are having problems today because of the inability of the couple to bring God into it. These are two people from different backgrounds coming together to live as husband and wife. I am very temperamental and my wife too is a stubborn woman. But in spite of these shortcomings, we have learnt to manage our issues.

“She’s not only beautiful, she is also intelligent. We connected immediately. She combines beauty and brain. I realise she’s something different. It’s not every lady you dated that you can propose to. Not every date can lead to marriage because God created every man and created a wife for that particular man. God also created every woman and created a husband for that woman. That two people dated does not mean that they must become husband and wife. Your prayer should be that nobody should marry your own wife or husband. That’s how we connected.

“Yes, at some point, I was ready to marry her but her parents delayed our marriage. W hen I first met her, I was not ready to marry her. Then, I was trying to build a career, but by the time she was finishing school, I was ready to take her to the altar. Like I said earlier, her parents insisted she had to complete her education.

“From the outset, she likes me. But when I first met her, she was about 18 years and she was giving me an attitude. I wasn’t patient as I got angry. I didn’t want to beg anybody . This went on until 2002, when I lost my father and we ran into each other again. Coincidentally, that was her birthday. He got connected again. She came with her friends and we hung out that night. We exchanged our contact again and renewed our love for each other.

“It has not been easy. Marriage can be funny. When it is sweet, it is sweet, and when you quarrel with your spouse, it looks as if that is the end of the marriage. But my attitude has always been that no two marriages can be the same. That has been my style. You may quarrel, keep malice but the most important thing is that I have decided to spend the rest of my life with her, for better and for worse until death do us apart,” he revealed

I Can Marry A Wheelbarrow Pusher - Benita Nzeribe

When Miss Nzeribe was asked during her recent interview, why she was yet to get married, this is what she had to say:
If I have to say the truth, marriage is not all about money or the little things of life. We should marry for real love. That is why I see myself as being able to marry whoever I am in love with, no matter his status in life.

"That is to say, even if the guy is a wheelbarrow pusher, I would marry him so long as my heart is with him.”

Woman Gives Birth To Baby At 52years Old

A 52-year-old woman, Mrs Kate Fezigha, has given birth to her first baby, which came after 19 years of her marriage. The new mother, who is a midwife at the General Hospital, Sagbama in Bayelsa State, got married in 1994 and has supervised the delivery of many children but she never had a child.

Her attempt to adopt a child from a Bayelsa-based orphanage home was scuttled, as she was swindled by the coordinator of the home.

The miracle happened last year as she cried when her menstrual flow stopped:

Fezigha concluded that menopause had set in and her chances of having a child gone. Thereafter, she started experiencing regular dizziness and pains in some parts of her body and went for a test but the scan strangely confirmed that she was pregnant.

Nine months after, she gave birth to a baby girl! The baby has been named Prudent.

She told LEADERSHIP during the child dedication and thanksgiving service in Yenagoa that the conception and birth of the “miracle baby” was “the Lord’s doing and it is indeed marvellous”.

She said the pressure on her during her 19-year wait was unbearable, especially as the children she assisted their mothers to be delivered had become parents themselves.

In the words of Mrs Kate Fezigha:
“I was worried that all the children I had taken delivery of while on duty in the hospital were now parents. I reflected and declared to myself that in spite of the fact that no child had died in my hand during birth as a midwife, why shouldn’t I have mine?

"But a voice kept telling me to redouble my effort and I shall be blessed. But the mysterious voice started reducing in my head as I was fast losing hope.

"I decided to adopt a baby from an orphanage and I was swindled. At this stage, I ignored the voice and handed the matter over to God. And now I am a happy mother.”
Basking in the euphoria of her new bundle of joy, Fezigha told LEADERSHIP that her family is full of praises to God. "All the period of waiting was not easy, but I am comforted by the word of God. Women who are hoping to have children should put their trust in God”.

President Jonathan Is Very Unserious - Bisi Akanbi

Interim National Chairman, All Progressive Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as an unserious-minded person, who is running a kindergarten presidency.
“I have my reasons not to admire President Goodluck Jonathan. I have not found him to be a serious-minded leader. Jonathan is Nigeria’s problem today. He is not a thinking leader
“I have had two meetings with him since 2011. I have had a long telephone conversation with him. I have written him twice discussing the serious challenges facing the country but he has not found the courtesy to reply. He has reduced governance to kindergarten level. He is not serious-minded.”

Akande, who spoke in his Ila-Orangun country home during an interactive session with journalists to mark the Eid-el-Fitri festival, on Saturday, said with the present state of Nigeria under Jonathan, the APC would defeat the PDP in 2015 presidential election.

He highlighted Government’s nonchalance to pressing national needs, breakdown in infrastructure, insecurity and political impunity orchestrated by the PDP in states of the country as his reasons for describing Jonathan as unserious.

He accused Jonathan of victimising River State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on account of his insistence that the allocation of the country must be judiciously shared among local, state and federal governments.

The only sin of Amaechi against Jonathan is the governor’s refusal, as Chairman, Governor’s Forum, to allow illegitimate sharing of the country’s allocation. Amaechi wants the sharing to follow the dictates of the constitution but the PDP-led Jonathan, which is known for squandering only, doesn’t want this,” he said.

Commenting on the possibilities of former governors of Osun and Kwara, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Dr. Bukola Saraki, of joining the APC, Akande said both politicians were welcome to the party.

“Oyinlola’s parents were in the Action Group. He deliberately went to join the bad group. I whispered it into his ears when I met him the last time, that why has he gone to join the bad boys? See how uncomfortable you’re now,” Akande said.

“I have not talked politics with Bukola Saraki but if he is desirous of joining, he is welcome. The current victimisation of Bukola Saraki has shown the people of Kwara which party to go,” Akande said.

Predicting that the PDP would have become unpopular by 2015, the former governor of Osun State said the APC would win in Kwara, Kogi and Anambra states.

He added: “To know that the PDP is a party of unserious people, take a look at Lagos political succession and Obasanjo’s succession to Yar’Adua. Lagos succession was for progress but Obasanjo’s succession was for retrogression.”

Davido Is Big In Length And Width- Staciey Brianar

A Kenyan socialite, Staciey Brianar aka Pendo has been bragging online, in interviews that she and Davido had a romp when the superstar was in Kenya last week
Though a report from a Kenyan website says Davido had denied knowing who Pendo was in a press briefing while in Kenya, in a telephone chat with another Kenyan website Ghafla.co.ke, Pendo says her story is so true And that she has proof!
Excerpts from the interview below:

Nali: So what is all this wahala about Davido blocking you off of his Facebook ?
Pendo : If people had done even a little research, they would Davido does not even have a Facebook account. I NEVER said I was in touch with him through Facebook. I got in touch with him through a good friend of his *redacted*  and that’s where everything started. He did the intro.

Nali: So, seriously, did you f**k Davido?
Pendo: Errrrrrrrrrrm (laughs cheekily) (There is IRREFUTABLE proof that Pendo did spend the night with Nigerian superstar, if you want to see it plead with her on twitter @LoveStaicey to release it.) In the meantime, have this picture of Davido, topless, in his hotel room from his personal instagram, maybe pendo took it #troll

Nali: So why did you do this? Do you do this for money?
Pendo: (Laughs) No, I didn’t get money from him. I didn’t WANT money from him. I did it simply cuz I find him hot and he is pretty legit in the music industry in Africa. Yeah, I am attracted by his talent, his fame, his power, but honestly, who isn’t?
And people are talking so much because a lot of women wanted to be in my shoes, but were not. I’m not afraid to go after what I want. That’s just me. And I am unapologetic for it. I am content that I got what I wanted -which was to know him- and I guess it just naturally progressed from there…

Nali: So was this a one time thing then?
Pendo: No, I would do it again. Gladly. I don’t regret it at all.

Nali: Of course you know now I am gonna ask about the “D”. Free reign, choose your own words to describe it.
Pendo: He was perfect.

Nali: Nooooooooo, more than that. DESCRIPTION.
Pendo: (Laughing) Ok, ok. Errrrrrrrrrrm, he is much better than your “average Kenyan”. He is big. Both length and width. (Giggles) And best part is he REALLY knows what he is working with.

Nali: Haha, so you loved ALL OF HIM. (SN: Hehe, see what I did there?)
Pendo: (Giggles) Ha, you won’t let this go will you. Haha, no seriously though, he has CRAZY moves, he kept it fresh for a couple hours. I am impressed. Definitely the best…(hesitates) Ok maybe not the best I ever had, but he is up there.

Nali: So was this a one night stand or will you be seeing him again?
Pendo: Davido is not only a good lover but a gentleman. Not only did he not publicise the affair, but he left me with some personal mementos to remember him. I don’t think a one night stand does that. Plus there is still communication going on. I’m not saying we are dating, but we are definitely still talking. He did not “hit it and quit it”.
........................................................................
Pendo further bragged to another website:

”First of all, David doesn’t know Pendo, Pendo is for kenyans…lol!!
He knows Staicey so maybe if Pulse did their interview right, thy would have got the right info…
Anyway, he doesn’t have a Facebook account, so there is no way he would hav “blockd” me!!
I blocked the wannabe after I talked to HIM and he said “I use twitter n Insta” not even BBM coz he uses an i-phone!!

I may have been at the press conference, but as people say u gata work to achieve. So I made my way there, got to at long last meet Deekay, my long time pal from HKN n through him, I made my way to Skyluxx for the play house party where all of us stuck up in the VIP area!!
I knew I had won my jackpot so there was nothing to worry about..as a matter of fact, he had spotted me too.

We talked in a way only the two of us could understand!
I had my fun n made my way home ready for the big day…
As I said I was not worried, so there’s was no time in me hustlin to go to the backstage as other girls did…nooo!!

I had my food ready to eat. After the event, my friend Deekay (hkn) buzzed me and asked me to turn up that he was asking for me..
I made my way to Galileo with my girlfriends . I minded my own business until he spotted me and asked his deejay to come get me.

I still had no rush to be seen hanging out wth him or anything, so I sat down n had my drink that he offered…when it was time to leave he held my hand and we left.
On reaching the car, the organiser said it wouldn’t be safe coz of the media so David paid for my cab that followed them directly to the hotel located in Hurlingham.

When I got there, he sent his deejay (Olu) to give me his key card to his room as he talked to someone…he escorted me to the room and the rest is self explanatory!!
I’m not like those girls who take pix in bed and all…but I got proof, as he left me some wen he left for his flight early morning.

I thought stuffs like these are supposed to be kept a secret, it isn't something to be proud about. I ain judging.

Stella Damasus's Second Husband Drags Her To Court Over Infidelity

Stella Damasus's second husband, Mr Emeka Nzeribe is suing Stella for going ahead to marry and live with another man while they were still married legally. Stella Damasus's was never divorced from Mr Emeka before she secretly married Doris Simon's husband, Daniel Ademiroka.

We Must Stay Together For FIve Years Before Marriage- Eniola Badmus

During her interview with encomium magazine, here is what she had to say:
"What is the point if I marry today and tomorrow it's over? What's the essence? I am living my life. I will have a baby when necessary. Marriage is good but what's the essence of me getting married today and tomorrow I'm not in it?
"For any man I am going to marry or call my husband we should be together for five years before we walk down the aisle. We may have children but at least after five years I will know that you're ready for me. Not getting married today, and tomorrow he's out! I've seen it happen to my friends, I don't want to go through that trauma," she told Encomium magazine.
My question now is, isn't it possible for a man to live after staying together for more than 5 years?

Amaechi Is My Son, I Cannot Fight Him - First Lady

First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has revealed the genesis of the political crisis rocking Rivers State saying it all started four years ago.

Patience Jonathan who spoke at the Presidential Villa during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa by 16 bishops from the South-South geo-political zone said Gov. Amaechi is her son and he shouldn't let outsiders use him against his own blood.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports it thus; Click below to continue.

The First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan, said in Abuja on Wednesday that she had committed the ongoing crisis in Rivers to prayer and that crisis started as far back as four years ago.

Rivers has been embroiled in a political crisis which culminated in a free for all at the House of Assembly last week, with some members injured.

Jonathan said this during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa by 16 bishops from the South-South geo-political zone.

“Rivers state issue is one thing I’ve committed to prayer because I believe there is nothing God cannot do. God restored me and I’ll do His work without the fear of man.

“The truth will always remain the truth and what God ordains must come to pass and so Rivers issue is something we’ve handed over to God.”

The president’s wife said contrary to some reports, she had always mediated between Gov. Chibuike Amaechi and other parties in a crisis that began four years ago.

“This matter started as far back as four years ago at Anyugubiri in Okrika when I begged him not to demolish a part of Okrika but (that he should) dialogue first with the people.

“After that incident, he called the chairman of Okrika (local government) and sacked him for holding a reception in our honour; that boy was the first victim.

“He also put my people on curfew for nine months. I called him and pleaded with him but he refused. Then I began to hear all sort of propaganda in the media against me; this is not the way.

“I’ve never spoken about this issue but as men of God, I believe you’ll say the truth always because there are a lot of conflicting interests; some will hear one thing and say the exact opposite.

“I also want you to know the genesis of this problem and pray that God touches Amaechi’s heart as per his hot temper because when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.”

Jonathan urged the parties involved in the crisis to help to resolve issues plaguing the state and not “whip up sentiments” that will aggravate the problem.

“I appeal to Amaechi to sheathe his sword so that we can defend our state and this country with love, unity, patriotism and truth at all time.

“Hebrews 12:14 urges us to embrace peace with all men without which, we cannot see God.

“Amaechi is my son, I cannot fight him and I cannot kill him. He shouldn’t be used by outsiders against his own blood because this seat is vanity.

“One day, no matter how long it takes, we will leave this seat. Power is not forever. This seat is vanity, others sat here and left so one day I’ll also leave and we will meet at home; so why should I fight him?

“Let’s take it easy, face issues, leave non-existent matters, stop magnifying lies and respect our leaders and people in authority. Let’s give peace a chance,” she said.

Earlier, Bishop God-Do-Well Awomapara, Chairman, Niger Delta Bishops Forum, who led the delegation, said the visit was significant “in view of emerging situations in our region.

“We are on a quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding the Rivers issue and mediate where necessary.”

My Life Is In Danger, Governor Amaechi Laments

.Governor Amaechi has raised alarm that his life was in danger.

The governor said that some strange policemen and "intelligence officers" were deployed in his lodges in Port Harcourt and Abuja without his consent by higher authorities...

The governor raised the alarm on a day the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Chidi Lloyd was declared wanted by the State Police Command even as Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka warned that this “notorious proceeding will not be permitted to fester unchallenged.”

The Inspector General of Police  has also summoned to the Force Headquarters, Governor Amaechi’s Chief Security Officer, Mr Tony Iwelu as well as the House Leader.

Threat to Amaechi’s life
On the threat to Governor Amaechi’s life, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Mr. George Feyii, in a statement made available to Vanguard in Abuja, recalled the surreptitious deployment of strange policemen and intelligence officers to the governor’s lodges in Abuja and Port Harcourt without the involvement of the governor as was the practice nationwide.

Feyii said: “The Rivers State Government notes with distress what is now an apparent attack on the person of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“On Tuesday, two policemen, one of them, Inspector Bawa, reported to the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge at Justice Mohammed Bello Street, Asokoro, FCT Abuja.

“They claimed to have been posted by Nigeria Police Force Headquarters to monitor the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge.

“Earlier, four intelligence officers had been posted to Government House, Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Police Command. These postings were done without any notification or reference to Governor Amaechi.

“We are aware that on issues of personal safety, an official reserves the right to pick the security personnel to whom he may entrust his safety. This is more so in the case of a state governor.

“The policemen insisted on Wednesday morning (yesterday) that they had directives to remain at the gate of the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge. Not only is the Rivers State Government uncertain of the true identity of these gentlemen, we are worried as to the true intent behind these latest postings.

“In recent times, events in Rivers State and especially around Governor Amaechi have been suggestive of deliberate nonchalance at best, and complicity at worst in the security breaches that have occurred. This trend has continued despite a passionate appeal to the highest levels of authority.

“We are worried that we can no longer guarantee the safety of Governor Chibuike Amaechi and wish to reiterate our call on all relevant authorities to ensure the safety of Governor Amaechi and the peace and security of everyone in Rivers State”, the SSG pleaded.

20years old Man Rape 9years Old Girl To Death

A 20-year-old man, Chijioke Nwakor, from Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State is now in Police custody for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl to death.
The  suspect who is currently detained at the  Criminal Investigation Department (CID), state Police headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar is alleged to have engaged Miss Alice Eneji in a marathon love making which resulted in the girl’s death.
Chijioke told the officer heading the homicide unit of the state CID, Mr. Joseph Inuyashe, that he was born in Aniocha Local Government Area, but grew up in Onistha, Anambra until recently when he relocated to Okuku-Yala Local Government in Cross River State where he is living with his  parents.
He said since he came to Cross River State, he had abstained from women, regretting that his first attempt to make love to a girl of his desire has resulted in tragedy.
He said: “I used to see the girl everyday in Okuku-Yala, where I stay with my parents. I don’t know what pushed me  last Monday to approach her.
“As I saw her playing with the three boys at Saint Patrick’s Primary School, Okuku football field, I called her and asked what she was doing there. I told her to go home and meet her mother.”
The advice took an amorous dimension as it started drizzling and Chijioke and Alice had to take shelter under one of the school buildings.
It was then he said: “I discussed with her and she accepted so I took her to one of the abandoned buildings that has been overtaken by weeds, where I told her to remove her underwears and she complied.”
Claiming there was mutual agreement between them, the boy dismissed allegation that he raped her, saying: “I did not slap her or do anything to her.
“I told her to bend down because the place was too dirty. The uncompleted building is now used as a toilet, because most people living around there  had no toilet.”
Chijioke said he then went for marathon love-making but Alice started crying but he thought she was pretending.
Few minutes later, Alice slumped and became unconscious and he decided to raise alarm calling for help.
Alice was rushed to hospital while Chijioke went round the community sourcing for money to foot the hospital bill.
“I was still looking for money when somebody called me that the girl was dead,” he said.
When contacted, acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Hogan Bassey confirmed the incident,  saying the culprit is in custody and that they were investigating the immediate and remote cause of such a criminal act. According to him, Chijioke will be charged to Court.
